Human Environment Interaction

Understanding the human-environment interaction is important in understanding Panama's geography. Panama's human and natural environment are closely intertwined. The location, climate and available natural resources have shaped Panama's history, economy, and culture.

One big example of how humans interact with the environment is the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal was made in the early 20th century by humans. With an important and unique location, the canal and is very crucial for trade and commerce and connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

Due to Panama being rich in flora and fauna, the natural resources of the country provide important goods. In the forests, it can provide timber for construction, fruits and nuts from trees, and medicine. The rivers and oceans provide significant sources of fish, other seafood, and water.

Another way that humans interact with the environment is through the climate. Because of Panama's tropical climate, rainfall, fertile soil and being located near the equator makes it an ideal place for agriculture and growing crops. Coffee, bananas, and cocoa are just a few crops that are able to grow well.
