Natural Disasters

In Panama, the natural disasters that occur are earthquakes, floods, droughts, and rarely occuring hurricanes.

Panama has quite a history with earthquakes. For example, in 1991, Panama got hit with an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2. Another earthquake is in 2010, where Panama got hit with an earthquake of 6.0 magnitude. Loss of life and major damage was the result of these.

Flooding occurs commonly in the rainy season due to the amount of heavy rainfall overflowing and flooding areas and rivers. Damage to homes and infrastructer and possibly loss of life is a result.

On the opposite side, droughts happen in the dry season. Due to the dry climate, it leads to water shortages abd crop failures. It has a negative impact on Panamas economy as well as the citizens of Panama.
